Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton recently revealed a rather amusing mishap they had occurred while filming an intimate scene for season 3 of the show. Nicola Coughlan And Luke Newton Reveal The Furniture They Broke During A Sex Scene
Nicola Coughlan took to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes photo with her co-star Luke Newton to celebrate the release of the second half of the season. The picture shows her and Newton, who plays Colin Bridgerton, giving a thumbs up next to a chaise lounge with a broken leg.
“Part Two is out now, we put our heart and souls into it, hope you love watching it as much as we loved filming it,” Coughlan captioned the post with a heart emoji. The second picture in the post was a close-up shot of the broken chair leg, without giving any context of it in the post’s caption.
However, during their press tour for the new season, Coughlan and Newton mentioned the incident of breaking a piece of furniture, causing fans to speculate on which item it could have been. At the season 3 launch event in Australia, Coughlan confirmed the story, saying, “Yeah, hell yeah we did.”
In an interview with 7News Australia, Coughlan and Newton recounted how they could laugh about the situation. “There were moments where we could explore the scene and try it different ways and that ended up in a piece of furniture getting broken,” Newton said during the interview, adding that they “just laughed” when it happened.
“And then, I think Nicola spoke, like in her Irish accent, and I thought, it would have been so special – I mean, maybe it will be in the final cut, us breaking into laughter — ‘cause I think that’s quite Colin and Pen as well. So it would be nice,” he added.

‘Bridgerton’ Intimacy Co-ordinator Praises Actors Nicola Coughlan And Luke Newton
The show’s intimacy coordinator Lizzy Talbot also commented on Nicola Coughlan’s Instagram post, calling it one of her best pictures. She then shared her perspective on the now-infamous on-set moment.
“Been waiting FOREVER for this to come out! It might be my most favourite work picture I’ve ever taken. You just KNOW it’s going to be a great scene when something like this happens,” Tabot wrote, hinting at the incident.
In her caption, Lizzy Talbot further praised the season’s leads. “You absolutely SMASHED this season in every sense of the word and it was a total joy and privilege to work with you. Two of the kindest people to ever walk on set. We knew we had something special and it’s just incredible to get to share it. This was a scene I won’t ever forget and couldn’t be more proud of everyone involved,” she added.
