House Of The Dragon: How Did Velaryon And Targaryen House Escape The Doom Of Valyria?
Daenys Targaryen had a vision of the catastrophic event called the doom of valyria, 12 years before it actually happened. She warned her father Aenar. Aenar was the dragonlord of House Targaryen during that time.
He took her daughter’s warning seriously and packed everything he had. He brought his servants, wives, children, and dragons along to Dragonstone after he sold his family land.
The Targaryens left riding their dragons much before the destruction. The other houses laughed at them and called them cowards. When the doom took place, most of them perished.

What Is ‘Doom Of Valyria’?
According to the ‘Game of Thrones‘ fandom website, the doom of valyria was a catastrophic event that took place almost four hundred years before the War of the Five Kings.
Often called the doom, the nature of this event is unspecified and caused the collapse of the Valyrian Freehold, which was in existence for five thousand years in Essos. It completely destroyed the city of Old Valyria and wrecked a majority of the surrounding Valyrian Peninsula.
The destruction of its capital city in one day, in turn, caused the fall of the entire Valyrian Freehold. It also led the House Targaryen to conquer the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros centuries later.
On the day of the doom, every hill in the region exploded, which even killed the dragons. Massive earthquakes destroyed everything while lakes boiled. It led to the collapse of an entire civilization in a nick of time.
