‘House of the Dragon‘ has proved to be one of the most successful television shows for HBO in recent times. The first episode of the fantasy drama drew around 10 million viewers in the US across all platforms. Thus becoming the largest single-day viewership for a series debut for HBO.
The series is set two centuries before the events of ‘Game of Thrones‘ and is based on portions of George R. R. Martin’s 2018 book ‘Fire & Blood’. It was recently announced that the show has been renewed for a second season after a successful debut episode. But how many episodes is it going to have?

Number Of Episodes In ‘House Of The Dragon’ Season Two
‘House of the Dragon‘ has defied the expectations of a lot of people who thought it would be just another prequel. But the critical response and impressive TV rating says a different story.
Recently it was announced that HBO has renewed the show for a second season after its first episode was well received. So it’s safe to say that the ‘Game of Thrones‘ universe is here to expand.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Francesca Orsi, executive vice president of HBO programming has said: “We are beyond proud of what the entire House of the Dragon team has accomplished with season one.” He continued, “We couldn’t be more excited to continue bringing to life the epic saga of House Targaryen with season two.”
Now the question is how many episodes is the next season going to have? While there is no official confirmation from HBO, another 10 episodes season seems like a safe bet.

The First Episode Drew More Viewers Than ‘Game Of Thrones’
The viewership of the first episode of ‘House of the Dragon‘ has now increased to 20 million. This was despite the audiences having a level of apprehension for the show.
It also performed well on HBO Max in the US, Latin America, Europe, and the African region. The show also brought in the largest single-night audience for the channel since the series finale of ‘Game of Thrones‘; it had 19.3 million viewers in May 2019.
‘House of the Dragon‘ has a viewership more than the debut episode of its parent show; it had 2.22 million same-day viewers in 2011.
But comparing the two would be unfair since HBO did not have a wide reach at that time. Also, the original show was fresh content for the viewers. Unlike the prequel show which is a part of an established IP.
