“Not Everyone Is Making It Out Alive”: Eric Kripke Promises Shocking Showdown In ‘The Boys’ Season 5

The Boyshas never shied away from violence, gore, and complete unpredictability. With each season, fans have been treated to jaw-dropping twists, unexpected deaths, and the kind of dark humor that makes you both cringe and laugh out loud. Now, as we prepare for the show’s final season, creator Eric Kripke has hinted at an ending that will leave us all reeling.

If you’ve been hooked on ‘The Boys‘ since its debut on Prime Video, you know that this isn’t a typical superhero series. It’s nasty, gritty, and really amusing. The stakes have never been higher as we enter season 5, and Kripke has made it obvious: no one is safe.

In a recent interview at San Diego Comic-Con with TVGuide, Kripke opened up about the fate of our beloved characters, teasing a season full of shocking moments and inevitable goodbyes. “Anyone who dies will richly deserve it.”

He also recently revealed to Games Radar+ that the final season will be a bloodbath. “That’s the fun of the final season. You can blow the doors off it,” Kripke said. As there’s no need to keep the cast for another season, get ready for some “shocking, big things” to happen.

Kripke is clearly enjoying the creative liberty this final season offers. With no need to preserve characters for future storylines, the potential for unexpected deaths is higher than ever. “There’s no guarantee who’s going to survive because you don’t have to keep [the cast] for another season,” Kripke explained. “The writers, as we’re starting to cook it up, we’re really enjoying that.”

In typical superhero stories, the villains are often the ones to bite the dust, leaving the heroes to save the day. But ‘The Boys‘ has never been about following traditional arcs. The series, inspired by WildStorm (DC Comics), has deviated from its source material enough times to keep even the most dedicated fans guessing. Kripke hinted that the final showdown between Butcher and Homelander is inevitable, but who will get caught in the crossfire remains a mystery.

So many series finales suck. It’s really hard to land the plane,” Kripke noted, acknowledging the pressure to deliver a satisfying conclusion. “I am very grateful to Amazon for giving me the opportunity to end it on our own terms but, for sure, I feel lots and lots of pressure to end it well. Because if we can stick the landing, then people will be like, ‘That was a great show.’ But if we sh*t the bed, people will say: ‘It was a good show, but then it sh*t the bed.'”

The final season of ‘The Boys‘ is expected to hit Prime Video sometime in mid-2026.
