‘Euphoria’ isn’t run-of-the-mill teen drama with heartsick teenagers with angst who flit in and out of dark paths while balancing high school. It thrusts viewers to a dark place, removing the sheen and weaving outrageous stories surrounding drugs, sex, and all the pitfalls of growing up.
It’s been a long wait for season 3, considering we saw the last of the crew in 2022. But finally, the next chapter is upon us. Sydney Sweeney, who shot to fame playing Cassie on the show, opened up about her character’s journey and the “unhinged” ride that awaits us once ‘Euphoria’ comes back.
Sydney Sweeney Teases Cassie’s “Crazy” Adventures In ‘Euphoria’ Season 3

Sydney Sweeney was 21 years old when ‘Euphoria’ debuted in 2019. Since then, she has been making strides in Hollywood. But, she is totally geared up for the show’s third season, just like fans.
In an interview with Empire magazine, Sweeney opened up about stepping back into Cassie’s shoes and filming the show after three years. “I have such a spot in my heart for Cassie, and I hold her really close and dear. She is crazy. She makes so many mistakes. She’s flawed on so many levels, but she does it all from a place of love. It could be a sad version of love, as well. It’s so much fun to play a character that is as crazy as she is,” she said.

Sweeney has had creative sessions with creator Sam Levinson about Cassie’s trajectory. She added, “I’ll read something, then I’ll call him, and I’m like, ‘Let’s go crazier.’ And he’s like, ‘I’m all in.’ And this season is unhinged.” So, we better be prepared for more shocking encounters and plotlines that will make everyone uncomfortable in season 3 of ‘Euphoria.’
How ‘Euphoria’ Has Changed Sydney Sweeney’s Life

In the storyline of ‘Euphoria,’ Cassie has faced many bizarre and downright disturbing moments. From cheating with Maddie’s horrible and abusive ex-boyfriend Nate to undergoing a forced abortion, the character has been through a lot.
In Season 3, we will see the cast after graduation, since there’s a five-year time jump. Beyond their high school setting, we will find out if the characters have been able to fight their demons and start life anew or find new vices. Surely, the past will haunt them.
As for Sweeney, Cassie casts a huge shadow on her life. Fans often can’t separate the actress from the role and harmless memes turn into social media bullying. But what’s Sweeney’s perspective on it? “It definitely changed my life. I think that with the amount of access, with social media, and how much content gets put out there of Cassie… People do have a hard time separating actors from their characters, and especially someone like Cassie, where she is hated and she’s loved, but she’s definitely a complicated character. And so I think that that could confuse people, for sure. But if they’re hating me for decisions that my character is making, then I’m playing the character correctly,” she said.

‘Euphoria’ Season 3 filming has begun and the premiere is expected in 2026. Sam Levinson has revealed that it’ll be like “film noir” and the onus will be on Zendaya’s Rue whose storyline will “explore what it means to be an individual with principles in a corrupt world.” With eight episodes, the series hopes to wrap up the narrative with the season.
