When it rains, it pours. On ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ episode ‘Susan,’ Susie Myerson can’t seem to catch a break. Midge’s friend and manager, she’s failing on both fronts. Pressured by her criminal associates, she forces Midge to perform at a trade show as a sanitation worker.
If being pressured by underworld associates wasn’t enough, she gets the blame from Midge for not thinking about ‘The Gordon Ford Show’ job being a dead end. Susie’s lack of oversight makes Midge feel stuck, something she can’t afford. To make things worse, a blast from Susie’s past shows up.

‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’: Susie Myerson Is Failing On All Fronts
When you’re friends with crooked people, they’ll always find ways to call in favors. Seemingly sweet Frankie and Nicky (Erik Palladino and John Scurti) ‘persuade‘ Susie (Alex Borstein) to get Midge (Rachel Brosnahan) to perform in a trade show for them. When she tries to explain the impracticality of the situation, they remind her how they’ve helped her out in more than a few binds. When a dejected Midge gives a flat performance, Frankie and Nicky threaten Susie and tell her she’s forever indebted to them.
Opportunity presents itself for Midge when a comic on ‘The Gordon Ford Show’ drops out. However, Midge’s request to fill in with family-friendly material is denied by the boss, who never lets staff appear on the show. So how is Midge supposed to get on the show when she can’t get on the show? As her manager, Susie should have done her due diligence. Her dropping the ball constantly will affect her relationship with Midge.

‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’: Who Is Hedy And What’s Her Relation To Susie?
Gordan Ford’s romantic pursuit of Midge and her rejection of him continue. Gordan keeps bringing up the matter of his open marriage and his wife, Hedy. When Midge asks Susie about it, it rattles her. She flat-out denies knowing or even having heard about her. But the inflection in her voice and the worry on her face give her away.
Later, Hedy (Nina Arianda), now Mrs. Gordon Ford, chases Susie all over New York and they have a painful reunion. They talk about past promises and mistakes. It’s all a thinly veiled conversation about their relationship years ago. We get the idea that Hedy left, perhaps uncertain of their future. Susie was left heartbroken, vowing never to feel the same way.
