Whenever Midge gets to walk with her head held high, she steps into a muddy puddle. Between testing in-laws, a potentially happy but not a genius kid, and diminishing advancement opportunities, ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel‘ finally gives a moment to break down and let it all pass.
The day starts on a great note when she makes an impression on Danny Stevens, the guest on ‘The Gordon Ford Show‘. But it ends up in professional embarrassment and personal failure. The rest of the characters, too, have their peccadillos, but our hearts break for Midge as the race to superstardom gets to her.

‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ Season 5: Danny Stevens Shakes Things Up
Famous sitcom star and comedian Danny Stevens, played by guest star Hank Azaria, comes on ‘The Gordon Ford Show’ to plug his latest book. While he buddies up with the male writing staff, Midge comes up with an insight for Danny. He takes her up on ‘finding funny’ in the truth, making his time on the talk show hilarious and heartwarming.
Impressed, he tries to poach Midge as a writer on a female lead sitcom for Loretta Young. Gordon is jealous, and his insinuation ends with both men having a go at each other. Meanwhile, thanks to Susie, Mike is now a producer on ‘The Gordon Ford Show.’ While the staff still can’t appear on ‘The Gordon Ford Show,’ he books Midge for Jack Parr’s private comedy showcase.

Another Brick In The Wall Emerges For Midge
Despite walking over all other comics, the booker for Jack Parr doesn’t take her. Despite Susie’s passion for Midge, he refuses because he does not understand how to market her. Besides, they want James Howard, Susie’s other client. When Susie suggests that James drop the show, he gets upset and threatens to fire her.
Meanwhile, in 1975, Midge continues to lose money bankrolling her mother’s matchmaking business. She wants to keep it going despite losses since her mother is dying, which is how she wants to show her affection. She informs her accountant not to talk to her mother about the actual state of the business, asking Susie to book her for the Australian tour.
