‘The Simpsons’ Showrunner Matt Selmon Is “In Complete Denial” About The Show’s Future Ending

The Simpsons’, a show known for its cultural and social commentary, quickly became a trend in pop culture. Its innovative storytelling and surprising predictions made it relevant. Even today, it continues to create a frenzy among people.

As the animated series approaches the end of its 36th season, it has aired what it dubbed a “series finale” episode on September 29. But in actuality, it was the showrunner’s creative way to start the Season 36 premiere. However, the show is bound to come to an end at some point and it’s going to be soon. This is a shock for both fans and even for showrunner Matt Selmon, who’s in complete denial about the show ending. Here’s what he said.

Matt Selmon Has Mixed Feelings About ‘The Simpsons’ Ending Some Day

Everything comes to an end, and ‘The Simpsons‘ is no exception. Showrunner Matt Selmon recently opened up about the prospects of his superhit show ending. “I’m in super denial about (it),” he said while speaking during an interview with People.

“I don’t think about it, so I’m just going to not think about that,” he added. “But certainly, it’s just if the show ever does a last episode.” Moreover, the show is just nearly 4 seasons away from completing its milestone of 40 seasons which is much for a show but for a show like’ The Simpsons’ it doesn’t feel much seeing the popularity of the show.

“I just hope it’s just a regular episode with no Winky Winky stuff at all,” he explained. “Just a great family story, just like a classic story that’s just funny and involves the whole family and doesn’t feel like it needs to wrap up anything or change anything or tie anything up or be magic or talk to the audience directly.”

Fans Are Speculating How ‘The Simpsons’ Will End

Talking about the finale of the 36th season of the show, Matt said that they don’t want to do something big and don’t think it’s a necessity. “We did that. We just did that. We covered it. Check that off the list,” he added.

Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith, Hank Azaria, and Harry Shearer have taken charge of the voice acting of the show since its 1989 debut. The series became popular for its distinctive style and even the predictions which are still valid and seem legitimate.
