Kit Harington may not be ready to bring Jon Snow back tomorrow, but his latest comments suggest the door is no longer firmly closed. The ‘Game of Thrones’ star says he now feels “more comfortable” with the character and the world of Westeros again, raising the possibility that a Jon Snow sequel could still work under the right circumstances.
That is a notable change from where things stood when HBO’s Snow spinoff was shelved.
Kit Harington Is Warming Up to Jon Snow Again
Harington revealed that the Jon Snow project was developed for roughly two years, but he ultimately felt the story they had wasn’t quite right. “We developed it for two years or so. I still think there’s a world in which something could work. I wouldn’t have gone into it in the first place if I didn’t. But I was very insistent at the start, as were HBO and George R.R. Martin, of, like: ‘If we don’t find the right thing, let’s not do it.”

He stressed that he, HBO and George R.R. Martin had been committed to one rule: if they couldn’t find the right story, they shouldn’t make the show simply because the character was popular. But time has apparently changed his relationship with Jon.
“Now I’ve gone and done all these other things,” Harington explained, “and now I feel more comfortable with that character and that world again and where it sits in my life.” And honestly, that’s probably the most interesting part. Harington isn’t announcing that Snow is returning, but he is no longer talking about Jon as a chapter he never wants to reopen.
The Right Story Is Still The Biggest Question
The original concept reportedly followed Jon after the events of ‘Game of Thrones’, living alone and broken in the North. Earlier plans reportedly included him abandoning Ghost and Longclaw, with Harington wanting the character’s story to avoid turning him into another heroic figure.

That darker direction may explain why Harington was cautious. Jon’s ending already left him beyond the Wall with the Wildlings, so a sequel would need more than simply finding another threat for him to fight. For now, there is no confirmed revival of Snow. But Harington’s attitude has clearly shifted.
After years of distance from Jon Snow, the actor finally seems comfortable enough to consider returning. And for ‘Game of Thrones’ fans, that’s a pretty significant change.
