Well, with all the love bombing, manipulation, and attention-seeking behavior, they might seem relatable at times, but absolutely annoying. Here are such characters fans love, while ignoring their less-than-favourable qualities.
10. Phoebe Buffay From ‘Friends’
Well, this opinion could make many ‘Friends’ fans angry. Every character from this show is admired but Phoebe was weird in certain ways. Phoebe was a mix of superstitions and hopelessly naïve. Yeah, her childhood messed her up and she provided laughter therapy, but she was a tad bit mean.

While Ms Buffay was loving, innocent, and blatantly honest about her opinions, she could be too quirky and that tainted her charm.
9. Gina Linetti From ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’
The character of Gina Linetti from ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘ was fabulous, but nasty. Her character worked well in the early seasons. She was vibrant but in the later seasons when she became rich and successful, Gina was unbearable. Initially, she might’ve been funny but her character just went downhill.
People love the actress but don’t like her character. Her acting was so brilliant that it got on people’s nerves. Hence her character is not loved much but couldn’t be ignored either.
8. Blair Waldorf From ‘Gossip Girl’
Blair Waldorf and Serena had a competition between the ‘Gossip Girl‘ fans. They both were equally messed up but people admired Blair more. She is insecure, and lonely and uses her wealth and status to take advantage. She is loved for her bubbly and nice nature but not when she is a mean girl.
She manipulated people to her advantage but was also strong, and independent, and never let her emotions control her. Hence, why people find her toxic but still love her for her good deeds.
7. Martin Payne From ‘Martin’
Martin Payne, played by Martin Lawrence, in ‘Martin’, is quite beloved. People find the show interesting but Martin who was supposed to be the main lead of the show was kind of toxic and annoying for some reason.

He used a catchphrase very often in the show which made it annoying to watch, he was also considered a narcissist and even did some messed things to people who cared for him. Hate him love him but you can’t ignore him.
6. Lisa Simpsons From ‘The Simpsons‘
The character of Lisa Simpson in ‘The Simpsons’ is shown in the way of a strong and morally upright character who is equally naïve and annoying. But that again depends on the viewers. She has good moral thoughts but her ways are not correct. Some may find it preachy but it’s her morals that stand out.
Lisa’s principles are both annoying and admirable. Moreover, she is socially conscious, and intellectual. For example, her principles of stealing are quite harsh and are even ‘victimless’ but she still chooses her morals over them.
5. Rory From ‘Gilmore Girls’
Well again, people have mixed opinions on the character of Rory Gilmore in ‘Gilmore Girls’. She is that pretty admirable-looking girl that everybody falls for. She’s accomplished, and witty but Rory is only book-smart. She was confused when it came to life decisions. Her character was a bit selfish and her boyfriend decisions were awful.
Rory couldn’t handle criticism and she even dropped out of Yale because somebody told her that she was not good enough. But she’s still loved by many fans for being the gold star, a perfect daughter, and an academic.
4. Sheldon Cooper From ‘The Big Bang Theory’
Sheldon Cooper from ‘The Big Bang Theory‘ was both disliked and liked by the audience. He was known for his wit, intelligence, and quirky behavior. While some find all this endearing, many label the package annoying. Some viewers also don’t relate to Sheldon’s social awareness and the way he treats people. If a lack of empathy throws you off, this genius is not your man.

Sheldon was shown a bit self-centered which may put off some. But he was innocent, kind, patient, and genius, which made his character bearable.
3. Serena Woodsen From ‘Gossip Girl’
Serna van der Woodsen was messed up like other characters in ‘Gossip Girl‘ but she wasn’t a mean girl like others. People compared her character to Blair Waldorf but Blair was more messed up than her. She was loved by everyone in season 1 and later, she succumbed to a holier-than-thou attitude even while she made the most horrible mistakes.
It could be that people loved Blake Lively hence they couldn’t hate Serena. Fans too had mixed comments on her character but more people find her toxic for being a liar, a bad friend, not treating Blair like a BFF, her family issues, and more.
2. Jim Halpert From ‘The Office’
We all might root for the unconventional characters to win in life, but Jim Halpert was downright problematic. While his love story with Pam is revered, the man barely knew how to respect women when it mattered.
Jim was a bully and considered himself above all. He took big decisions on his own, never consulting his life partner, and made her cry too.
1. Ted Mosby From ‘How I Met Your Mother’
Ted Mosby in the popular sitcom ‘How I Met Your Mother‘ has mixed reactions on how he appeared to the audience. Some people admire him while some also find him toxic. Even though he was the show’s narrator and protagonist, he was still flawed in some ways but fans admired him as he never found his true love in the show. Maybe they used to pity him.
He did many wrong things including chasing girls blindly, acting like a victim always, and even telling his kids about his wild hookup stories.
