In the second episode of ‘The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Lived‘, Michonne and her group encounter a Civic Republic Military (CRM) helicopter that puts chlorine gas upon them. CRM has demonstrated its destructive power in various parts of the series so far.

Though the incident reignites Michonne’s hatred for the CRM, it also has a positive indication. It hints at the possibility of survivors from a previously decimated community, Omaha, resurfacing.

Omaha was once a thriving community allied with the Civic Republic, and was believed to have been eradicated by the CRM’s gas attack. However, Michonne and Nat’s survival suggests that not everyone in Omaha may have perished. While most residents likely succumbed to the gas, the fact that Michonne and Nat survived indicates that escape from CRM’s attack was possible.

The potential revelation of survivors from Omaha would be a pivotal development, especially because of the dire situation that Rick and Michonne are currently facing on the show. The Omaha community people would essentially work as allies for the duo that can greatly benefit from it.

With just two people fighting one of the strongest and vast group of antagonists on the show, the possibility of the protagonists succeeding seemed feeble. If they had to fight the CRM alone, it would have essentially meant a sad end for the two, or if not, a tragic conclusion to the season in some way or the other.

But the existence of survivors from Omaha could provide them with the support needed to confront and possibly thwart the CRM’s plans. The emergence of Omaha survivors would also introduce a new dynamic to the storyline and offer hope for the protagonists in ‘The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live’. So fans can now brace themselves for a positive twist in the story narrative.
