‘House of the Dragon‘ is set to take the legacy of George R. R. Martin’s work forward. A prequel to HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones‘, this show will focus on the beginning on the end of House Targaryen. It will also cover their succession war. The show is based on Martin’s 2018 book ‘Fire & Blood’.
The trailer of the show was well received by the audience and expectations have been sky high. Before the show’s premiere on August 21, several critics attended the show’s first four-episode screening. So what are the early reviews of ‘House of the Dragon‘? Let’s find out.
The Early Reviews Of ‘House Of The Dragon’
‘House of the Dragon‘ is set to premiere on August 21. But early screenings of the show for critics are out now. But does the prequel live up to the original?
The answer to this question is not very clear at this moment. We get a somewhat of an idea that’s a promising show.
A reviewer from The Telegraph said it falls “a little way short” and acknowledged that ‘Game of Thrones‘ has “set a dauntingly high bar.” The Wrap took it a step further and called it “pales in comparison”.
However, not everyone had the same feeling about the show. Lucy Mangan from The Guardian called it “a roaring success.” She wrote: “In short, all is as it was in GoT’s heyday. Fun, propulsive, looking great and sounding passable.”
Overall, the reception has been a mix-bag and we will have to figure it out once the show premieres on Monday.
