The Viewership Of ‘House Of The Dragon’ Finale
The final episode of HBO’s fantasy series dropped on Sunday and it has met with a positive response. Its last scene has particularly been praised because of its intense cliffhanger.
The episode brought 9.3 million views on Sunday, according to Warner Bros. Discovery. It includes both linear viewers who saw it during its four airings on HBO’s cable channel and HBO Max streams that night.
With such viewership, ‘The Black Queen‘ has become HBO’s most-watched series finale since its parent show ‘Game of Thrones‘ ended its eighth and final season with 19.8 million viewers in 2019.
However, the show was not able to beat its own peak of 10.2 million viewers in the second episode. Its second season can be expected to release sometime in 2024.

Show’s Maker Talks About The Final Scene
The final scene of the show has been the talk of the town. Ryan Condal, the showrunner talked about it. “Credit to Greg Yaitanes, who directed that shot and did so beautifully“, he said.
He said, “I have a bunch of favorite moments in the episode, but that ranks right up there.” Condal then said how the final scene was different from the first draft of the script.
“The very last action line of the script was, “Rhaenyra looks up and war is in her eyes.” That was in the first draft of that script. That was always the plan for ending the season, because after all this internal debate that Rhaenyra goes through over the course of the episode, everything changes the moment that she learns about the treachery at Storm’s End and the death of her son“, he said.
