Who Is Laenor Velaryon In ‘House Of The Dragon’?
‘House of the Dragon‘ takes place during the stronghold of House Targaryen in Westeros. It will also chronicle their war of succession that will lead to their eventual downfall. The Velaryons also have an eye on the throne.
One of the most interesting characters from House Velaryon is Laenor (played by Theo Nate). A skilled warrior, Laenor is also a dragon rider who enters Daemon’s battle against the Crab Feeder and helps them win the fight.
He is the oldest child of Princess Rhaenys and Corlys Velaryon and in the first episode, we see that she was almost named heir to the throne by King Jaeherys. In Martin’s ‘Fire & Blood’, a young Laenor was considered as heir.
Laenor is also Rhaenyra’s first husband, and the two share three children together—Jacaerys, Lucerys, and Joffrey.
Who Does Laenor Marry?
Laenor ties the knot with Rhaenyra which unites the House Velaryon and House Targaryen. It is widely believed that Laenor was homosexual and his marriage was an alliance and wasn’t based on love.
There were rumors that Ser Harwin Strong, Rhaenyra’s lover, was the real biological father of Rhaenyra’s sons with Laenor. Leanor rides Seasmoke dragon, becoming the first person of color to do so.
The older version of the character will be played by John Macmillan in the later episodes as the show witnesses a time jump.
It was Laenor who came up with a plan to send in a man as bait and trick the Crabfeeder into thinking of their surrender. This plan, led by Daemon, led to their victory in the battle.
