    ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’: Three Animated Films From The Franchise Are In Works At Paramount Studios

    It is now confirmed that the beloved anime-TV series ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ will have three spin-offs standalone movies. The Annecy International Animation Film Festival made announcements about the further expansion of the universe. The original series was about a young boy who yields the powers to manipulate air, water, earth, and fire. 

    Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko helmed this Emmy-winning series set in the worlds of Asian and Western confluence of elemental martial arts. The series aired from 2005 to 2008. The series inspired a spin-off titled ‘Legend of Korra.’ The details about the upcoming series are still under wraps baring the crew helming the projects.

    Lauren Montgomery Will Helm The ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Animated Films

    Paramount Pictures announced the three-film animated project which will serve as a spin-off for the 2005 series ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender.’ Along with them, the parent company of the series, Nickelodeon will also embark on this ambitious journey. They revealed the crew of the film. The prolific storyboard artist Lauren Montgomery will helm one of the projects. The co-creators of the original series, DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko will serve as the producers of all three films.

    The new production company, Avatar Studios will supervise the project. The Studios was established in 2021 to create original cinema and series based on “Avatar: The Last Airbender” and its spin-off “The Legend of Korra.” The President of Animation and Development at Nickelodeon and Paramount Animation, Ramsey Naito said, “As original creators, Mike and Bryan expand the ‘Avatar’ universe with us, we’re keeping it all in the family with Lauren bringing the same kind of expert, beautiful work she did on the original series to her new directing duties on the forthcoming theatrical.”
