‘Demon Slayer’ is one of the most popular anime of all time. The plot, the characters, and the animation are some of the reasons behind the anime’s popularity. Speaking of characters, one of the most popular characters in the series is Kibutsuji Muzan who so happens to be the primary antagonist of the series. He is a very cautious and suspicious individual and is quite smart.
However, some fans believe that he is not as smart as people think. He did after all kill the only two people who could have given him the blue spider lily that he was after for so long.
What Is The Blue Spider Lily?
Kibutsuji Muzan is the first and strongest demon in existence. Ironically he used to be a human before he was turned into a demon. Muzan was sick from the moment he was born. He was always sick and was told he wouldn’t live for a long time. Many doctors tried to cure him with various medicines and they all failed. However, there was one doctor who cured him with a new medicine. But this medicine turned Muzan into a demon.
Although the newly turned demon had a strong body and did not age, Muzan couldn’t go out in the sun. He figured out that going in the sun would kill him. There was an ingredient used in the medicine that turned Muzan into a demon which was the blue spider lily. This flower was said to be magical and Muzan wishes to find out as it is said that this will allow him to walk in the sun.
However, the flower only blooms once a year and for two-three days. After the flower is done blooming, its plant resembles a regular plant. The reason why Muzan hasn’t been able to find the blue spider lily is because the flower blooms in the day and Muzan cannot find it, neither can his Kizuki or other demons.
Who Were The People Who Could Have Given Him The Flower?
The first person who could have easily helped Muzan was of course the doctor who created the medicine. Muzan was angry with his illness and he ended up killing the doctor. However, he wasn’t aware that the medicine given to him was a prototype and that he would develop such a weakness to the sun. It was after he killed the doctor that he realized all of this. He regretted killing that doctor and wished to find the blue spider lily to overcome the weakness.
The other person was Tanjiro’s mother. Tanjiro’s mother knew where the blue spider lilies grew and she took him to see them when he was very young. Tanjiro remembered this fact during his fight with lower moon 5 Rui. Muzan could have gotten the lily that he was so obsessed with had he not killed Tanjiro’s family. In addition to looking for the blue spider lily, Muzan was also looking for a demon that could withstand the sun. This is why he immediately targeted Nezuko upon finding out that she could stay in the sun.
