What Is The Plot?
The plot of the anime is unique and attention-catching. The anime has some mature themes such as science, violence, politics, and more. The story is set in a futuristic world in 2052. An award-winning neuroscientist creates a drug that is considered a cure-all drug called Hapuna. This miracle drug does not have any side effects and soon becomes a necessity in that world.
However, after the introduction of the drug, the creator, Dr. Skinner disappears. After three years, Skinner returns and becomes the harbinger of doom. Skinner announces that the drug isn’t as much of a miracle as it seems. He mentioned that everyone who ingested the drug will have a half-life that will end in three years.
To combat this situation, a task force is released. This task force comprises 5 agents and is called Lazarus. The motive of Lazarus is to find Dr. Skinner and develop a vaccine.
The Anime Has Big Names Attached To It
Whilst Shinichiro Watanabe is the prime creator of the anime, multiple other people are involved in this project. Chad Stahelski, who is the director of ‘John Wick’ is the action director of the anime.
In addition to that, Studio Mappa is responsible for the animation of the series. Fans are extremely excited about the series and wish to see just how Mappa, a studio that has animated some very popular anime such as ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ and ‘Attack On Titan’, will animate this new fan-favorite anime.
Release Date And Trailer
The anime was introduced in the San Diego Comic-Con 2023. Whilst some things about the anime were disclosed, the release date however wasn’t one of them. However, the staff hopes to finish the animation by the end of 2024. The official streaming platform for the anime will be Adult Swim’s Toonami programming block. The anime will contain 13 episodes, all of which will be directed by Watanabe.
In addition to the plot and staff, the trailer of the anime was disclosed as well. The trailer was quite well received by the fans and increased their anticipation for this anime. According to most fans, the animation gives off the same vibes as ‘Cowboy Bebop’. Some fans even said that the trailer itself shows that this anime was directed by Shinichiro Watanabe.
