Kushina and Minato’s death is one of the earliest we come across in the series. Nothing that top this one when we see how both of them sacrificed themselves to save Naruto and the Hidden Leaf Village. More than being a parent to the newborn child, they chose to protect the very village that’ll embrace the kid later on.

Despite the grim reaper standing at their door, they didn’t forget to part with the child without a few loving words. Furthermore, they embed their consciousness with the baby, so that they can come to his aid one day.

Jiraya

In the series, Jiraya didn’t only act as Naruto’s sensei but also fulfilled the role of a godfather. Minato and Kushina both agreed to make him the godfather and Jiraya, apart from his crazy antics, sure did protect and train Naruto to be a strong independent boy. On his deathbed, he notes that Naruto was indeed the Child of Destiny, breaking the hearts of the viewers.

Also, the small parting moment with Naruto after his death dealt a heavy blow to us. The message he risked his life for, reached Naruto successfully eventually helping him in dealing with Pain. Naruto’s reaction to finding another of his beloved person’s death was hard to watch through.

Obito Uchiha

Though coming off as a villain since the beginning of the series, his death did blow a number on us. The antihero of the story not only helps Naruto win half of the war but also gives Kakashi his Sharingan back.

The viewers couldn’t help but curse Madara and Black Zetsu for manipulating Obito to perform heinous deeds in his own village. His self-sacrifice, in the end, washed away all the hatred the fans had for him since the beginning.

Little did Sasuke know that his actions led to uncovering the actual truth behind his beloved brother’s actions, leaving Sasuke scarred for life. All that Itachi did was undoubtedly for the good of the village, but he got misunderstood by his own people.

A sand village dweller and Sasori’s grandmother, Granny Chiho is one of the oldest characters to die in the series. The reason to mention her death, despite a few other notable ones, is because of her self-sacrificing act of saving Gaara. Undoubtedly, Gaara is one of the main characters of the series and an important part of the impending final battle.

Without him, things would have gone south as Team 7 couldn’t possibly deal with all shortcomings. After seeing what his grandson has done by joining Akatsuki, Granny Chiho voluntarily helps Gaara regain his life, thus embracing death n the process.
