All-time fan favorite and one of the Big Three, ‘Naruto,‘ is a widely loved anime worldwide. All its characters demand your support, while most of our hearts remain with Naruto and Sasuke. The trio of Itachiโs group always seemed to cause trouble, but things went south when Sasuke decided to follow Orochimaru.ย
While the teamโs search for him remained the same, new factions started to form and attack the Leaf Village. One such nefarious faction was the Akatsuki. Nothing much was known about them, and they stayed hidden in the shadows until two of its members – Itachi Uchiha and Kisame Hoshigaki sneaked into the village to capture Naruto, the bearer of the Nine-Tails.
The Main Mastermind Behind Akatsuki And Their Goal
Akatsukiโs main objective was to capture the beasts by killing the Jinchuriki (the bearers). They comprised ten prime members who paired into two and set off on their missions. The main focus was on Nagato/Pain, Itachi, Tobi, and Zetsu. The figurehead of the group was Pain, though exteriors are not always true right? Outside the outer look, there were manipulative back stories intervened.

Yahiko, the founder of the group, died in an unfortunate accident, and later Nagato took hold of his ideals, pushing the group forward. All these ideas were sort of inspired by Tobi, who needed all the Nine-Tailed beasts in order to complete the Moonโs Eye Plan. Though Sasuke was also part of the group for a short while, the top ten members were always consistent.

Who Is Tobi? Why Is He Important?
A complex web of stories is behind the Akatsuki group formation. So letโs break it down slowly! Yahiko the founder of the group, left the seat to Nagato after his death. Yahiko, Nagato, and Konan were childhood friends. Nagato, unable to let go of his friend, used a clone of him named Pain, who was supposedly the figurehead of the Akatsuki.
The real mastermind was someone else completely. It was Obito, who fans thought had died. Obito concealed himself as Tobi, by wearing a mask, as he became one of its members. He did that to keep things under control without being obvious. The real mastermind from the beginning was Obito alone.ย

Initially introduced as a member of Akatsuki, he is a laughable, quirky character, with a hilarious sense of humor. But behind the mask lies a dark character who controls, manipulates, and kills people. At the beginning of the anime, we are also shown a flashback of how he fought with Minato on the same level per se.ย
One of the former ninjas of the Hidden Leaf village and a teammate of Kakashi, Obito took part in the massacre attempt at Leaf Village not only once but multiple times, to seek revenge for the supposed murder of Rin (another member of Kakashiโs team). His vengeance towards the Village was taken advantage of by Madara, and Zetsu for even bigger plot endings.
