Techniques involving martial arts or the enhancement of inborn human talents are referred to as taijutsu, which is a fundamental type of technique. By directly utilizing the user’s physical and mental energies and relying on the endurance and strength developed through training, Tai Jutsu is performed. Chakra can be utilized to improve its techniques, but it is often not necessary. Ninjutsu and genjutsu take much longer to utilize than taijutsu, which typically doesn’t require hand seals to perform and occasionally uses specific postures or poses. To put it simply, taijutsu is hand-to-hand combat.

Taijutsu has eight gates which when opened grant the users amazing powers. The purpose of the Eight Gates is to restrict the movement of chakra within a person’s body. Normally, people can only employ 20% of their body’s capacity, which is the brain’s way of preventing the person from endangering their body through excessive exertion. With practice, people can discover how to open the gates, which is another name for removing these restrictions. People gain access to more and more of their body’s chakra with each opened gate, boosting their stamina and speed.

The Reason Madara Uchiha Was Weak Against Taijutsu

The reason why Taijutsu worked against Madara when normal Ninjutsu did not is that Taijutsu is pure physical combat and Madara’s truth seeker orbs could not absorb those attacks. Guy begins fighting Madara and when he realizes that he cannot beat Madara without drawing on more power, he starts opening the gates.

Guy attempts to open his Gate of Wonder, but it also fails to harm Madara. Guy recognizes he must utilize the eighth gate, the Gate of Death, which he is aware will kill him, as his seventh gate has already failed. When Guy finally opens the eighth gate, red mist surrounds him. He moves closer to Madara to free the Evening Elephant, but he passes away from the pain of the eight-gate formation, which means that his attack was cut short.

It may be wrong to say that Madara was weak against Taijutsu, he was weak against Guy’s attacks. The reason why Guy’s attacks seemed to work on Madara was that they were purely physical and neither any amount of Ninjutsu nor his truth seeker orbs were able to absorb his attacks. Thus, he was forced to resort to defending himself the normal way and was forced to fight Guy physically. As someone who had managed to open the seventh gate without dealing much harm to his body, Guy was far more adept than Madara and he would have killed him if the pain of opening the eighth gate hadn’t made him powerless.

Guy is a powerful Shinobi and he was strong enough that Madara called him ‘The strongest Taijutsu user’. This is why Madara was weak against Taijutsu in the Shinobi War Arc in ‘Naruto‘.
