Gohan, the son of Goku, the protagonist of ‘Dragon Ball,’ is quite strong. However, due to his inherent dislike of fighting and conflict, his potential is not much explored. Therefore it is quite rare to see Gohan transform into a new form that makes him stronger than anyone else.
One such transformation is the Beast Gohan transformation. He transformed into this state during his battle with Cell Max. This transformation has the potential to make Gohan the strongest warrior out there. Let’s figure out what exactly is it and if it is unique to Gohan alone.

What Is Beast Gohan?
The beast Gohan is a transformation akin to the transformation into Super Saiyans. The Saiyans get their power through grief and anger and this form was the same.
During his battle with Cell Max, Gohan witnessed the death of Piccolo. He got engaged after that and started to switch forms. His eyes started flashing rapidly before settling on a red color with black pupils. His hair turns light grey which is the same color that Goku’s hair turns to in his Mastered Ultra Instinct form. This makes the fan wonder if the Beast transformation is just as strong as the ultra instinct.
In addition to changes in his body, Gohan’s aura change as well. He gets a mix of white, blue, pink, and purple aura around him. Gohan was able to unlock this form due to Old Kai’s unlock ability. Old Kai unlocked all of Gohan’s dormant and underlying potential and this allowed him to transform into something so much more powerful.
Is It A Saiyan Transformation?
It has not been made clear in the manga or anime whether the beast transformation is Saiyan or not. But according to speculation done by fans, one can assume that it is a Saiyan transformation.
Since Gohan unlocked this form due to intense anger, this form contains a lot of animalistic traits. These traits are also connected to the kinds of transformations Gohan used to have as a child.
However, despite this difference between Saiyan transformation and beast form, it is clear that they are connected. Since Gohan unlocked SSJ2 and not three, it can be said that this transformation had a direct connection to the Super Saiyan 2 transformation in ‘Dragon Ball‘.
