What Is Kobeni’s Devil Contract In Chainsaw Man? Why Does She Keep It A Secret?

Kobeni isn’t the most active fighter among the Public Safety Demon Hunters, but during a company outing, she admits to have had a contract with a devil. But which devil does Kobeni have a deal with? It must be puzzling to move past ‘Chainsaw Man’ without knowing about the deal with the devil.

It is unknown with which devil Kobeni has a deal. She has told the other hunters that it is a secret. ‘Chainsaw Man’ Part 1 leaves open the question of which specific devil Kobeni has a deal with, despite the fact that Kobeni has shown some mobility. It’s possible that the series’ upcoming season will cover her contract’s specifics in more detail.

Who Is Kobeni?

Kobeni in Chainsaw Man

Devil Public Safety Hunter Kobeni Higashiyama started out as a new employee on Makima’s test team. She later declared his departure from the experimental squad after the battle with the Darkness Devil in Hell. She is a diminutive young woman with short brown hair that is pulled back into a ponytail in both the anime and the colored manga. Kobeni has brown eyes with white pupils. She is an incredibly cowardly person with very little courage.

When she first encountered the Eternity Devil, she was frozen with terror and unable to move. She is seen to easily give way under pressure and break down in tears when the group gets stuck in the hotel and she is faced with the possibility of them starving to death without assistance.

What Is Kobeni’s Devil? And Why Does She Keep This A Secret?

Kobeni’s Devil is a secret

Fans have generated a variety of hypotheses because Kobeni’s devil is a mystery. In terms of theories surrounding Kobeni’s demon, there are typically two camps. Some fans speculate that it will likely be a rumored devil who we have heard about but never actually seen. On the other side, some people invent their own demons that they think would complement our eccentric protagonist. Many believe Kobeni has an arrangement with one of the Four Horsemen. For those who have not read the ‘Chainsaw Man’ manga, the Four Horsemen are extremely powerful devils who can remember the names of the devil’s Chainsaw Man slain.

Some think Kobeni’s ability to survive in challenging and confusing circumstances may be the result of an agreement with the Death Devil. An alternate is The Hunger Devil. In the manga, Public Safety personnel introduce themselves by outlining their professional and private objectives. She claims that her secret demon loves tasty food. One’s passions aren’t necessarily bound to the devil they are or have a contract with, like Denji, who more than shares this love of eating but isn’t connected to the Hunger Devil. However, if her’s contract ends up being with the Hunger Devil, the aforementioned would have been a fantastic foreshadowing.

However, some people invent their own private devils. Kobeni is notorious for having bad luck, hence a Misfortune/Bad Luck Devil is a popular and suitable option. A Misfortune Devil is another possibility that could account for the lack of marks that would have indicated her’s contract. Instead of losing a body part, she can be cursed with a lot of bad luck and a predisposition to being in the wrong place at the wrong time. The Kobeni’s curse is that they’ll either be weak or extraordinarily strong.
