‘Dragon Ball‘ has given the viewers something to look forward to in each arc. All the arcs have been very different and hard to predict for the viewers and that is something that has made the series so popular.
Jiren is one of the characters that the ‘Dragon Ball‘ franchise has given the viewers, he is an antagonist but is a little different from traditional villains. He is also one of the strongest characters in the entire franchise. Let’s find out who exactly he is and why he is so strong.

What Is Jiren’s Race?
It was established at the start itself that Jiren is not of Goku and Vegeta’s world. He isn’t even from the same universe. Where Goku and Vegeta are from universe 7, Jiren belongs to universe 11. His Race was never officially mentioned in the anime or manga, but certain hints were given.
Jiren is the most prominent member of his race. Another hint that was given is that Jiren grew to be one of the strongest characters in the franchise by self-training, which indicates that his race may be naturally strong. Saiyans are examples of races that are naturally strong and a little bit of training can take them to new heights.
Another hint is that Jiren’s planet was shown. Jiren and his family are shown to have existed on a planet that is Rocky and bush filled. Another race which is sharply eared is shown to have co-existed with them on the planet. However, a demon took control of that planet and wreaked havoc. He murdered many of Jiren’s race including his parents and master.
Why Is Jiren So Strong?
As was mentioned above, Jiren may belong to a race that is naturally strong and can get even stronger with training. This may be one of the reasons why Jiren is so strong.
Another reason is that he was trained by universe 11’s god of destruction, Belmod, and his attending angel, Maracrita. It is unclear how long they trained him, but judging by his power levels, it is longer than Beerus training Vegeta and Goku.
Apart from all these reasons, Jiren’s true strength comes from his suffering. He lost everyone he was close to. As a result, he vowed to live a solitary existence and devote himself to training so that he does not lose anyone again. Goku and Vegeta both have a family and do not devote their entire existence to fighting, that however is not the case for Jiren. He does not have anyone and thus devotes all his time to trying to get stronger. This is why he is so strong.
