The post mostly consists of the negative things that the publications wrote about Gosling playing Ken, calling it “cringe, creepy” and “bad“.
In the caption, Mendes wrote, “So proud of my man. So much hate when he took on this role. So many people trying to shame him for doing it. Despite all the #Notmyken ridicule and articles written about him, he created this completely original, hilarious, heartbreaking, now iconic character and took it all the way to Oscars. So beyond proud to be this Ken’s Barbie,” followed by a heart emoji.

Ryan Gosling’s Nomination After ‘Barbie’ Snub By Oscars
Gosling’s role as Ken exceeded everyone’s expectations and ended up being one of the best things about the film. And it seems like the Oscars felt the same way, except that they thought of Gosling as the best thing about the film.
While nominations rolled out, fans were upset that Margot Robbie who played Barbie and Greta Gerwig who wrote and made the film didn’t get a single nomination for ‘Barbie‘ which is ironic. Similar feelings were expressed by Gosling himself who wrote, “But there is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no ‘Barbie’ movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally-celebrated film.”
He then added “No recognition would be possible for anyone on the film without their talent, grit and genius. To say that I’m disappointed that they are not nominated in their respective categories would be an understatement.”
America Ferrera who played Gloria in the film and got nominated for Best Supporting Actress said, “Greta has done just about everything that a director could do to deserve it. Creating this world, and taking something that didn’t have inherent value to most people and making it a global phenomenon. It feels disappointing to not see her on that list.”
