It is never good to put something out on the internet unless you’re willing to stand by it forever. Haven’t we all learned our lessons from the internet yet? Guess not, as Ayo Edebiri is still learning her’s after dissing Jennifer Lopez on a podcast years ago.
Comedian and actress Ayo Edebiri took center stage as the host of ‘Saturday Night Live’ on Feb. 3. To make the matter more interesting, Ayo’s musical guest of the night was none other than our J. Lo. Now being in the front seat of J.Lo’s live performance, the ‘Bottoms’ star had to face her past and make it right, so that’s what she did.
Ayo Edebiri Addressing Past Comments On ‘SNL’
The 28-year-old actress addressed her previous remarks about the singer in a sketch. During a game show sketch led by Kenan Thompson, contestants were confronted with their own past social media behavior. ‘The Bear’ star seized the opportunity to address her own resurfaced comments about Jennifer Lopez.
She said, “Okay. We get it. It’s wrong to leave mean comments, or post comments just for clout, or run your mouth on a podcast, and you don’t consider the impact because you’re 24 and st*pid. But I think I speak for everyone when I say from now on, we’re going to be a lot more thoughtful about what we post online.”
Edebiri’s candid admission on a prominent platform like SNL did spark conversations about accountability in the age of social media.

What Did Ayo Say About Jennifer Lopez?
Taking a stroll down the internet to a 2020 episode of ‘Scam Goddess’. A podcast where Ayo Edebiri didn’t hold back while discussing Jennifer Lopez with host Laci Mosley. The conversation labeled Lopez’s entire career as “one long scam,”.
The conversation on the podcast went somewhat like this. Ayo talked about J.Lo’s music saying, “She thinks she’s on multiple tracks, but it’s not her. I think she thinks that she’s still good, even though she’s not singing for most of these songs.”
It even prompted the perception that Lopez might not be as hands-on in her music creation as fans believe.“A lot of the write-ups of the songs will be like, ‘J.Lo didn’t have time to make it to the studio. Like, ‘J.Lo was busy.’ Doing what? Not singing, obviously.” commented the comedian.
Now those are pretty harsh words to swallow back, the she did. The sweet exchange both women had at the SNL said so.
