In 2021, before the sixth and final season of ‘Peaky Blinders‘ was released, director, Tom Harper hinted at a movie installation of the franchise. And in June 2024, Netflix officially announced making the film.
Thankfully, Cillian Murphy is reprising his role as Thomas Shelby. But that’s not all! It seems that the film will add some more stellar names to the cast. For now, we know one name that’s sure to send fans into a frenzy. It’s none other than Barry Keoghan!
Barry Keogan To Star Alongside Cillian Murphy And Rebecca Ferguson In The ‘Peaky Blinders’ Movie
The ‘Peaky Blinders’ movie creators recently announced that Barry Keoghan will star alongside Rebecca Ferguson in the upcoming film. Tom Harper, who directed the first season of the drama series, will take on the role again for the movie.
Not many details have been revealed related to the film including what character Barry would play. However, we can be assured of a seasoned performance by the actor. Last year, Barry won the BAFTA award for Best Supporting Actor in ‘The Banshees Of Inisherin‘ and was nominated for an Academy Award for the same.
He also recently starred in the music video of his girlfriend Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Please Please Please‘.
Meanwhile, Rebecca is thrilled to continue the Shelby family legacy. She recently starred in Dune‘s second installment that released in March. “I’m genuinely thrilled that this movie is about to happen. It will be an explosive chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. No holds barred. Full-on Peaky Blinders at war.”
Although not confirmed, it would be fascinating to see Barry in a razor-tipped hat. The story outline of the film has not been released but Steven Knight will return to scriptwriting.

Will We See Shelby Family In World War II?
Though much of the film’s details are still under wraps, writer Steven Knight recently opened up about the movie’s plot. “Go into and beyond the Second World War…I think of [the] sixth series as the end of the beginning,” he said.
In the finale of ‘Peaky Blinders’, England is on the verge of World War II as Aunt Polly had prophesized. Tommy was seen riding a white horse mirroring his first scene in the series.
Tommy has fought in the trenches in World War I and has been a spy for the British Government. Therefore, it’s likely that he’ll come to the government’s help once again in the reboot.
The release date of the ‘Peaky Blinders’ film has not been announced yet.
