During a press conference on May 6, 2023, before the WWE Backlash Event, Bad Bunny and Damian Priest argued, following which Bunny slapped Damian Priest. Bad Bunny was speaking to his fans and Priest intervened in between, after which Bunny laid his hands on Priest. The argument also had some impact on the street fight they had with each other.
After the slap, things got worse as Priest tore Bunny’s shirt alongside attempting to attack him with a chair. However, he was stopped by Triple H and they even tried to calm him down. Bad Bunny immediately left the stage after the incident.

Bunny fought hard to win but for Priest, victory was not his only priority. Instead, he was trying to punish Bunny as much as possible.
The contest received a positive response and people witnessing the match did not take their eyes away from the two opponents. This is speculated to be one of the biggest confrontations in 2023.
