In a blast from the past, let’s revisit 2012 when for a change, Brad Pitt‘s mother Jane Pitt made headlines. Jane caught quite the media attention for her public support of Mitt Romney and conservative values. While Mama Pitt voiced her very strong political opinions, her son who happens to be one of the biggest stars in Hollywood was fighting against her.
When Jane was making waves for considering same-sex marriage immoral, Brad was openly advocating for it. This stark contrast of public opinions between the family sparked quite the drama. Let’s rewind this early 2010 tabloid tale and see how well it reflected the socio-political landscape of its time.

Jane Pitt’s Endorsement Of Mitt Romney And Conservative Values
So back in 2012, Mama Pitt decided to take a vocal jab at then-President Barack Obama in a letter published in The Springfield News-Leader. In the letter titled ‘Election-Casting ballot deserves prayerful consideration,’ the celebrity mom expressed her stern disapproval of the topic of same-sex marriage.
At the same time, Jane was also publicly endorsing the Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney as a devout Christian. As it was known that Romney was of Mormon belief, She encouraged voters to rally behind her because he was still a man with “high morals”. In Jane’s words, “I think any Christian should spend much time in prayer before refusing to vote for a family man with high morals, business experience, who is against abortion, and shares Christian conviction concerning homosexuality just because he is a Mormon.”
It is obvious how willing Mama Pitt was to forget her faith to keep her stance against Barack Obama’s liberal views on abortion and same-sex marriage.

Brad Pitt’s Support For Same-Sex Marriage
While Jane took a conservative stance, Brad Pitt who is just as well known for his philanthropy and activism as he is for his looks, stood on the opposite side of the political spectrum. But just because the ‘Troy’ star has a difference of opinion, doesn’t mean there’s a love lost between the family.
Pitt opened up about her mother’s tabloid run in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter later. The Hollywood heartthrob said about his mother, “She’s very, very loving — very open, genuine, and it’s hilarious because she always gets painted in the tabloids as a she-devil. There’s not an ounce of malice in her. She wants everyone to be happy.”
Despite the familial love and respect, Brat stood on his stance steady as a supporter of same-sex marriage. The ‘Mr. and Mrs Smith’ star even told Ellen DeGeneres once, “I’ve said that we would not be getting married until everyone in this country had the right to get married.” Well, the rest went as we’ve seen Pitt and Angelina Jollie got married in August of 2014.
