Brie Larson made her Marvel debut as Carol Danvers in the superhero film Captain Marvel in 2019. Larson might be the first female superhero lead in a Marvel film. Although, playing Carol Danvers was not her first choice and moreover Larson was skeptical about attaching herself to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The risky decision of playing Captain Marvel gave Brie Larson a new identity and will be back on the screens for the Captain Marvel sequel in November. Larson revealed that playing a superhero on big screens was initially frightening but she also wanted to take this leap of faith to establish herself as cemented actress.

Why Brie Larson Didn’t Want To Be A Part Of Marvel
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Brie Larson revealed that the idea of playing the superhero initially frightened her because of the potential effects of the global stardom that might be attached to it. Larson said, “I was scared of what would happen to me. I was like, “What world is this, what are the choices I have to make as an artist”? She further told, “I was scared of what would happen to me”. The Academy Award actress expressed her fear of not living a normal life while doing the things she wishes because of the attention and stardom she might receive.
“When we found out that Brie Larson might be interested in joining the MCU, we pitched her the idea for the film. She was a huge fan of the character in the comic, and one of the highlights of my career at Marvel was introducing her at Comic-Con”, recalls Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios President. Brie Larson also commented on playing a gay Marvel character, “It’s so much more than me, and so much more than my body holds. Different sexual orientations or ways that you identify with gender or race. It goes beyond that. And that’s the thing that’s been exciting for me”.

Brie Larson’s Career
Brie Larson entered the film industry at a young age and since then she has been avoiding fame. From playing supporting roles in comedies to winning the Academy Award for her performance in the film ‘Room’, Larson has come a long way. In an interview, the actress said, “Anytime I feel like I’m being put too much on a pedestal, it’s my job to figure out how to remove that within myself”. But with a billion-dollar franchise comes great responsibilities!
After the raging success of Captain Marvel, Brie Larson is back with her iconic role as Carol Danvers in the superhero sequel The Marvels. She will also be seen along with the Fast and Furious cast for the tenth installment -Fast X. Larson will also get back to the comedy genre- Lessons in Chemistry.
