Chris Evans is done with superheroes, now he wants to play a villain. His association with Marvel dates back to 2011 when he debuted as the MCU’s Star-Spangled Man in ‘Captain America: The First Avenger‘. Evans then went on to play the role for almost 10 years across various films including all four Avengers movies so far. He ended his stint as Steve Rogers in 2019’s ‘Avengers: Endgame‘ by director Joe and Anthony Russo.
After his MCU exit, he has been busy working on other projects like his latest flick, Pixar’s ‘Lightyear‘. But, thanks to popularity as Captain America, he remains linked to the Marvel franchise even if it has been a few years since he exited it. In an interview, Evans was asked to pick the Marvel villain he’d like to play. His answer was very astounding.

Chris Evans Wants To Play A Villain
The ‘Gifted‘ star, in an interview with the Buzzfeed Celebrity, gave some surprising answers. In one segment, he was asked if there was any Marvel villain that he wants to play given the opportunity, and Evans chose Tom Hiddleston’s Loki. The actor explained that it’s because it seems so much fun to bring the God of Mischief to life. “If I can play any Marvel villain…Loki seems to have the most fun.“
Considering Loki’s stint in the MCU and Hiddleston’s performance over the years, it does seem like portraying the character is a blast. Watching the character on various shows is one thing, but Evans has first-hand experience of working with Hiddleston in the MCU, majorly in ‘The Avengers‘ where the Asgardian Prince was arguably at his most mischievous. They shared some scenes again in’ Avengers: Endgame‘ aside from a deleted ‘Thor: The Dark World‘ scene where Evans as Captain America played Loki in disguise.
Will Evans Return To MCU?
The actor’s return to the MCU has been rumored for quite some time. Many believe that Phase 4’s exploration of the multiverse is the perfect avenue to bring Cap back into the fold. Evans has said he would be up to return as Steve Rogers if the story is worth it.
However, he has also said that he would be game to return as his ‘Fantastic Four’ character Human Torch a.k.a. Johnny Storm. Some have also suggested he take up the role of Hydra Cap – an evil iteration of the Star-Spangled Man.
On the other hand, the rumors leave much to be questioned considering Sam Wilson is the new Captain America in the MCU. While Evans’ return to the MCU seems far-fetched now, the establishment of the Marvel multiverse has opened a few possibilities.
