‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘ star Chris Pratt wanted America to know something before it headed into the 2024 presidential election: win or lose, we need to stick together. For Maria Shriver’s ‘The Sunday Paper‘, Pratt wrote about what matters most in a divided time — how we look out for each other after ballots are cast.
With many Hollywood stars coming forward to endorse the presidential candidate of their choice before the elections, and then some urging people to vote during the polls, Pratt has taken a different approach with patriotism seemingly on the pedestal. Here’s what he wrote.
Chris Pratt Compares Elections With Sports With Wins and Losses
As America was preparing to vote for its most consequential elections, ‘The Sunday Paper’ voiced Chris Pratt’s thoughts on keeping the social fabric of the nation intact irrespective of who wins. “Like so many of us, I have been doomscrolling my way through this election season,” Pratt started in the article.
Looking at the politics of it all, he said that he understands very well that people’s lives and rights were at play. “I also see that there are millions of people who feel overlooked and invisible to our government and are desperate for something to change,” he wrote.

While most people may know Pratt for his superhero stints, the actor reminded the readers that he comes from a small town where his parents go through a hard time financially. “I am still trying to see the election through the eyes of Americans on both sides,” he stated, using his own upbringing to relate to the concerns of many.
Politics is much like a sport, declared Chris Pratt as he continued his article. “Losing is part of the game,” he wrote, recalling how he struggled to make peace with losing in sports as a child. “I feel as though we live in a time now when so many people have yet to learn that lesson,” Pratt wrote.
“Sometimes your team doesn’t win. The 2024 presidential election is three days away as I write this. The biggest game of all time approaches. Team Red versus Team Blue. A rematch for the ages. A showdown four years in the making,” he added.

“Of course, I realize the outcome of a sporting event isn’t the same as the consequences of an election where real lives and livelihoods are at stake,” the ‘Jurassic World’ actor added.

Pratt’s words came at a really crucial time ahead of the polls, which he said he chose to write because a portion of the voting population is going to be “incredibly disappointed” on November 6. He also told his readers to remain humble at whatever side wins. “If we become too paralyzed by defeat or too pompous in victory, allegiance to our ‘team’ can blind us to the fact that we are fellow countrymen“.
Well, he is perhaps right. After his fellow ‘Avengers’ stars Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., and Chris Evans publicly endorsed Kamala Harris for the 2024 race, Donald Trump’s win this election certainly comes as a disappointment and a shock for many.
