In 2021, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis which affected her acting career. Since then, Applegate has made occasional public appearances in a wheelchair or with a stick. Recently, she slammed the comments made by Candace Owens over an ad that showed a person in a wheelchair.

Christina Applegate Criticizes Candace Owens
Conservative commentator Candace Owens recently criticized Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS 2022 campaign for one of her clothing lines. In it, a model is shown on a wheelchair promoting products for people with disabilities.
“I don’t really understand how far we’re going to take this inclusivity thing. I really don’t get it. I don’t know. And if I’m wrong, again, educate me, today, I just want to be educated in the comments,” Owens said about the ad.
In response, Christina Applegate took to Twitter and wrote: “Yes late tweet. But woke to see the most horrifying thing. This Candace person making comments about companies who see we need help. It’s fucking gross. I thank skims and Tommy and Guide beauty and @neowalksticks for seeing us.”
The actress further wrote: “Candace Owens, do you know when you have seen pictures of me how fucking hard it was to get my clothes on? A team has to help me!!! So I’m excited for accessibility clothing for me and my community. Hope u wake.”

Applegate Said 2023 SAG Award Was Her Last Award Show Appearance
Applegate was one of the most successful actresses in Hollywood. However, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in 2021. It hindered her physical movement which as a result, affected her career.
At the SAG Awards 2023, the ‘Dead to Me‘ actress made an appearance, calling it her “last awards show as an actor”. She walked the red carpet, along with her daughter, in a suit-inspired black gown along with her cane that read “FU MS.”
“It’s my last awards show as an actor probably, so it’s kind of a big deal,” Applegate said. “Right now, I couldn’t imagine getting up at 5 a.m. and spending 12 to 14 hours on a set.”
