“Whiter Than Christmas at Cracker Barrel”: Colman Domingo Blasts Elon Musk’s ‘The Odyssey’ Plan

Colman Domingo just turned Elon Musk into a punchline, and the internet is loving it.

The Oscar-nominated actor was guest-hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday night when he went after Musk’s latest project. The tech billionaire announced he is using his AI tool, Grok Imagine, to make a “historically accurate” movie version of Homer’s ‘The Odyssey‘. The whole thing is a direct shot at Christopher Nolan‘s blockbuster adaptation, which Musk has been trashing for months because of its diverse casting.

Domingo opened his monologue and immediately went for it. “Now Elon Musk is planning to create what he calls a ‘historically accurate’ version of The Odyssey, using his Grok AI,” Domingo told the audience. “And by ‘historically accurate,’ he means ‘whiter than Christmas at Cracker Barrel.‘” The crowd ate it up.

Musk has been going after Nolan’s film ever since casting was announced. He specifically called out Lupita Nyong’o for playing Helen of Troy and Elliot Page for their role. He even went as far as calling Nolan an “anti-White racist.” Domingo said that is clearly what set this whole AI movie idea in motion.

“Of course, this is all because Elon and his Musketeers are upset over the diversity casting of The Odyssey,” he added.

Then Domingo went for the jugular. He took aim at the basic flaw in Musk’s whole plan. “And I don’t want to get technical here, but you can’t make a historically accurate version of something that is totally made the f**k up,” he said, drawing huge applause. “The Odyssey is fiction. You know, like The Hunger Games, or the president’s cognitive exams.“

The actor, known for ‘Rustin‘ and ‘The Color Purple‘, then pivoted to Musk’s bigger promises. The tech-billionaire has been talking about going to Mars for years, but instead, he is picking fights with Hollywood over casting choices. “Doesn’t Elon Musk have better things to do?” Domingo asked. “Wasn’t this b**ch supposed to be on Mars by now?“

He wrapped it all up with a layer of fake sympathy that landed as another punchline. He brought it back to Musk’s fixation on Nyong’o playing Helen of Troy.

“But maybe we should show a little compassion for Elon. This is a tough time for him. Helen of Troy is a beautiful Black woman. And this week, Jimmy Kimmel is a beautiful Black man.“

Musk’s AI Odyssey Faces Skepticism as Nolan’s Film Dominates Box Office

Musk has been catching heat from all sides over this. Director Scott Derrickson, who made ‘Doctor Strange‘ and ‘The Black Phone‘, recently wrote online, “Clearly @elonmusk doesn’t know s**t about cinema & he stopped reading in his 20s.”

None of this has hurt Nolan’s movie, though. Despite Musk’s online tirade that started months before the film even came out, ‘The Odyssey‘ is crushing it at the box office. It pulled in $264 million globally over its opening weekend, which is a massive number.

As for Musk’s Grok version, even the AI itself seems doubtful. When a user asked about the odds of getting a full 90-minute feature done by the end of the year, the AI said the chances were low. So even the machine knows this might not happen.
