The announcement follows months of Musk’s attacks on Nolan’s casting decisions. He believes that Hollywood has been more concerned with ideology than history. Though Nolan’s movie has been well-received by critics and fans, Musk seems intent on providing what he considers a more authentic rendition of the legendary tale.

Musk claims he will leverage Grok’s AI capabilities to create his own version of ‘The Odyssey’. His version will be released sometime in 2026. He called it “historically accurate and true to Homer’s article”.
The announcement was accompanied by a three-minute AI-generated video created with Grok Imagine by another X user. The clip provided a preview of the direction of the visuals that Musk might want to take, and how AI can recreate scenes from the Greek epic.
Musk’s criticism of Nolan’s film has been the same since before the movie’s release. He openly criticized Lupita Nyong’o for being cast as Helen of Troy and also slammed the casting of Elliot Page, stating that Hollywood has taken a “woke” stance in its filmmaking.
