It is very rare in Hollywood to witness a strong bond of friendship between two people. When you are competing in an industry, it is difficult to maintain an in tarnished bond of real friendship. But, however rare it is, we see some examples around. One such is that of Selena Gomez and Francia Raisa. The actors met when they visited a hospital together when they were with Disney and ABC.
However, the friendship strengthened when Francia donated a Kidney to Gomez when she was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease, Lupus. Since then, the friends have shared an amicable bond, but there have been storms in sunny weather. But, the bond seems to be dwindling since Selena released her documentary ‘My Mind And Me’. What happened that led to a seeming fallout between Selena and Francia?

What Led To The Rift Between Selena Gomez And Francia Raisa?
Every friendship gets tumultuous, but it is sad to see its dwindling nature. It is witnessed in the case of ‘How I Met Your Father’ actress and singer Selena Gomez. It all started when the ‘People You Know’ songstress gave a cover interview to Rolling Stone. During the interview, she recalled how she could not fit into the music business but found a true friend in her fellow contemporary Taylor Swift.
She said, “I never fit in with a cool group of girls that were celebrities. My only friend in the industry really is Taylor, so I remember feeling like I didn’t belong.” However, many media outlets picked the ‘My only friend in the industry really is Taylor [Swift]’ part. This did not sit well with her long-time bestie Francia, who commented in a now-deleted comment on the E! post “Interesting”.
Post the comment, a Tik Tok user released an explanatory video about the falling friendship between Gomez and Raisa—including Francia unfollowing Selena on Instagram. In the comment section, the ‘Calm Down’ singer clarified her stance about the interview. She wrote, “Sorry I did not mention every person I know,” fuelling the already strong rumor about their fallout.

“I Feel Clammy”: Francia Raisa Talked About How Her Lifestyle Changed Post-Kidney Donation
Before any of the feud, the two have been best friends for years since Gomez’s Disney days. When, in 2015, Gomez was detected with Lupus, which attacks the immune system and harms the organs, Francia donated her kidney to her. In September 2017, Raisa donated her kidney, for which Selena was grateful. The singer took to her Instagram to share their picture.
She captioned, “There are no words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much, sis.”
Post the donation, Francia had to revamp her diet and lifestyle. In July 2022, she shared how the donation changed her eating habits. The actress said, “Because I have one kidney functioning and it acts as a filter to my body, I can’t consume as much protein. I eat a lot — I know I’m skinny, but I chow down — so that was a very huge concern for me when I talked to the doctor.”
Francia had to consume a lot of water since there is only one working kidney that filtered the waste. “I have to drink at least two to three liters of water a day and can feel the difference if I don’t and get nauseous when I get dehydrated and it’s just not good. I feel clammy.”
