‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is already packed with confirmed villains, but Marvel Studios may have slipped another familiar face into the mix without saying a word. A quick look at the second trailer for the film reveals a hint that may signal the return of one of Spider-Man’s earliest enemies in the MCU, and it could mean more than it seems.
Although the focus has been on newcomers like Tarantula, Boomerang, and The Hand, there’s a subtle detail that indicates Marvel hasn’t forgotten about an old foe.
‘Brand New Day’ Might Have Already Spoiled Another Villain

At the end of the teaser, Spider-Man can be seen falling with the Hulk as debris falls around them. At first glance, the series is all about action. However, a closer inspection of the image shows that Peter Parker is wearing an electric gauntlet on his right arm, which is strikingly similar to the one that Shocker wears in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’.

That little detail has led to a lot of speculation. It would be unusual if Peter suddenly had the gauntlet, and it didn’t have anything to do with the story. The easiest answer is that Shocker reappears in the movie, and Spider-Man gets the weapon after another confrontation.
Herman Schultz’s Shocker was last seen defeated and left for the authorities to arrest. It’s unclear if he ever got out of prison or if he just served his time there. So, there’s plenty of room for Marvel to bring him back.
Could This Be The Start Of A Bigger Villain Team?

If Shocker is returning, it could be a much bigger deal than a throwback. He already has a history with Mac Gargan aka Scorpion who is also returning in ‘Brand New Day’. Both villains have some unfinished business with Spider-Man.

So, their reunion might be the first step in the creation of the MCU’s much-anticipated Sinister Six. ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ introduced the multiversal villains from other Spider-Man universes, so it would be logical for Marvel to assemble a cast of pure enemies from Tom Holland’s universe.
It would provide Peter Parker with a new challenge and add more street-level villains to the MCU. For now, it’s only a theory, as Marvel and Sony haven’t confirmed Shocker’s involvement. However, if the trailer’s hidden detail is intentional, then fans might have already seen one of ‘Brand New Day‘s biggest secrets before the film hits the theaters.
