The docuseries featuring the infamous beef between Taylor Swift and Scooter Braun will revolve around the biggest highlights of the feud, including when Braun bought all the rights of her first six albums from Scott Borchetta for $300m. The move started a big dispute that led to conversations about artists and their right to own the music they make.

True to the ‘vs’ format, the two episodes will examine the opposing sides of the argument — one exploring Swift’s side arguing that the sale was conducted without consulting her and that she has since been blocked from buying back her masters, and the other examining Braun’s allegations claiming Swift refused to negotiate and instead incited a public feud by pitting her fan base against him.

It will also give viewers an insight on musicians and their masters, as well as an exploration of gender dynamics and politics that exist at play in the music industry. Insiders from both Taylor and Scooter’s side will speak on the dispute

It’s a high-profile, high-interest story that opened debate on fandom and dominated headlines, one which will resonate with our viewers who are highly engaged with access-led documentaries like ‘vs’, which continues to be a popular format on Discovery+,” he added.

The dispute between Taylor Swift and Scooter Braun date back to 2019, when Braun bought the entirety of Taylor Swift’s masters and acquired the rights to all her first six albums, from debut to ‘Reputation‘. Along with the songs, he also owned the music videos and got the royalty of any of her music that was streamed by fans.

Swift retaliated by saying that she wasn’t informed about the decision at all, while Braun argued that she knew about the news and was even given a chance to buy them herself. This led to a major dispute between the two as several musicians took sides while Swift talked about artists and their rights to own their own music.

She also provoked her fans to go after Braun and the artists he manages, namely Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber. This resulted in them getting cyberbullied by Swifties.

Later on, the ‘Down Bad‘ singer decided to re record all her albums, including songs that she had scrapped of during the release, calling them ‘Taylor’s Version‘. So far, she has released all the albums except ‘Reputation‘ and most of them have outsold the original versions.

As of now, she makes music under Republic Records and has released 5 albums with the label in the last 5 years.
