After the wrath that Taylor Swift faced with the Kanye West and Kim Kardashian feud, the Scooter Braun controversy came knocking at her door. Taylor left Borchetta’s label and joined the Universal Group in 2018, but in 2019, her previous label, Ithaca Holdings, was sold to Scooter Braun for a whopping $300 million. Scooter was a friend of Kanye West, so after the purchase, Taylor was aware that it would be used for nefarious purposes.

During the Time magazine interview, Taylor Swift admitted that, despite trying her best to win her masters back, she felt powerless. Taylor said, “I was knocked on my a** by the sale of my music, and to whom it was sold. I was like, ‘Oh, they got me beat now. This is it. I don’t know what to do.’”

However, during the crisis, Taylor Swift decided to re-record her albums, as she still has lyrical liberty over her albums and has rights to her music. The ‘folklore’ artist said, “I’d run into Kelly Clarkson and she would go, ‘Just redo it.’”

Even her father insisted on rerecording her previous albums. However, Taylor would tell them, “How can I possibly do that? Nobody wants to redo their homework if, on the way to school, the wind blows your book report away.”

Taylor then, one by one, started rerecording her albums to win the rights over her music with ‘Taylor’s Version’ of the albums that she released under Ithaca Holdings, with the most recent one being ‘1989’.

The year 2014 was one of the pivotal points in Taylor Swift’s career. She made a switch from country music to pop with her album ‘1989’ which helped the singer boost her career.

However, at the same time, there was a hate train that she got caught in due to the Kanye West controversy. After reconciliation with him, the feud further became complicated after the rapper released the controversial music video for ‘Famous’.

In the video, Kanye West had some of the famous personalities like Taylor Swift, Donald Trump, and Kim Kardashian lying naked on a large bed. In the song, there is a lyric that goes, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have s**/ Why? I made that b***h famous.” What led to this was a messy feud with Kim Kardashian and her family, a leaked phone call, and people from both parties defending themselves.

During the cover interview with Time magazine, Taylor Swift addressed the whole feud that ensued. She said, “I had hyenas climb on and take their shots.” Due to the phone call leak controversy, she felt that it was a “career death” for her. Taylor continued, “Make no mistake—my career was taken away from me.”

Taylor Swift said that Kim Kardashian doctored the phone call to frame the singer as a liar. Taylor added, “You have a fully manufactured frame job, in an illegally recorded phone call, which Kim Kardashian edited and then put out to say to everyone that I was a liar.”

The whole feud took a toll on Taylor Swift’s mental health. She said, “That took me down psychologically to a place I’ve never been before. I moved to a foreign country. I didn’t leave a rental house for a year. I was afraid to get on phone calls. I pushed away most people in my life because I didn’t trust anyone anymore. I went down really, really hard.” She thought that the incident would define the rest of her life negatively.
