On September 4, Donald Trump took to his favorite social media platform, Truth Social, to express his gratitude to Brittany Mahomes for “strongly defending” him amid a growing Instagram controversy. The controversy, of course, surrounds her sudden, albeit brief, social media show of support for Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign.
“I want to thank beautiful Brittany Mahomes for so strongly defending me, and the fact that MAGA is the greatest and most powerful Political Movement in the History of our now Failing Country,” he wrote.

With his usual flair for dramatics, Trump went on to paint a bleak picture of the state of the nation. He cited, “With Crime and Illegal Immigration totally out of control, INFLATION Ravaging all Americans, and a World that is laughing at the stupidity of our hapless ‘leaders.‘”
But, he made sure to return on a positive note (well, for him) by praising Brittany for her patriotism. “It is nice to see someone who loves our Country, and wants to save it from DOOM.” In true Trump fashion, he couldn’t resist a celebrity nod, rounding off the post with: “What a great couple – See you both at the Super Bowl!“
Brittany Mahomes Claps Back At Critics
So, what exactly did Brittany Mahomes do that caused this frenzy? On Instagram, the 29-year-old had “liked” a post from Trump titled: “The 2024 GOP Platform.”
The post featured a list of 20 action items that would be prioritized by the second Trump administration, such as “seal the border” and “cut federal funding for any school pushing critical race theory, radical gender ideology, and other inappropriate racial, sexual, or political content on our children.”

Critics were quick to point out the potential strain her apparent support of Trump could place on her high-profile friendships, particularly with Taylor Swift. Swift, famously anti-Trump, made her political views crystal clear in the 2020 presidential election. She publicly endorsed Joe Biden and took direct shots at Trump via Twitter during the Black Lives Matter protests.
As for Brittany, she wasn’t about to let the haters have the last word. In a post shared on her Instagram Story, she addressed the critics head-on: “I mean honestly, to be a hater as an adult you have to have some deep-rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood.”
She didn’t stop there, either. She added, “There’s no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well.”
