Elon Musk is the CEO, and Product Architect of Tesla, Inc.; founder, CEO, and Chief Engineer at SpaceX, founder of The Boring Company, and co-founder of Neuralink and OpenAI. According to Bloomberg Billionaires Index and Forbes real-time billionaires list, Musk is considered to be the wealthiest person in the world. His net worth is around $266 billion as of August 2022.
His mother, Maye Musk, is a model and dietitian. She was born on April 19, 1948. With her modeling experience of 50 years, she has appeared on the covers of many major magazines, including Time Magazine‘s health edition, and Vogue. She holds Canadian, South African, and American citizenship. Though being the mother of three – Elon Musk, Kimbal Musk and Tosca Musk – she told The Times UK that she always sleeps in the garage when she visits Elon in Texas. But why?
Maye Musk Sleeps In Garage While Visiting Son Elon Musk
Sons would go to any extent to keep their mothers comfortable and safe. Although, this is not the case for multi-billionaire Elon Musk. Maye Musk revealed to Times that whenever she visits her son Elon in Texas, where the headquarters of SpaceX is located, she sleeps in a garage. She added, “You can’t have a fancy house near a rocket site.”
The preparation that goes before going to Mars needs a lot of dedication and commitment. When asked whether she is interested in her son’s dream of sending people to Mars, she gave a reply that shocked many. She commented that unlike her son, she is not quite committed to the trip. “You have to have six months of preparation and isolation and that just doesn’t appeal to me,” she said. “But if my kids want me to do it, I will do it.”
Why Musk Feels “Possessions Weigh You Down”
The 74-year-old model and activist, Maye Musk, further revealed that her son is not into ‘possessions’ at all. In April, the CEO of Tesla revealed that he does not own a home and stays at his friend’s place. The SpaceX CEO’s primary residence near the company’s location in Texas is a rental from Space X, revealed Elon Musk in a tweet.
It is well established that Musk is devoting his life to colonizing Mars. In order to succeed in his aim, his philosophy includes that one must not be weighed down by possessions. He tweeted in May 2020, “I am selling almost all physical possessions. Will own no house.” He kept his word and began selling his tangible assets to devote his life to “Mars and Earth”, noted the New York Post. “Don’t need the cash,” the billionaire tweeted, “Possessions just weighs you down.”
