Actor Sydney Sweeney is one of the most loved talents of her generation. Her performance in shows like HBO’s ‘Euphoria,’ ‘Sharp Objects,’ and ‘The White Lotus’ has earned her a solid fan following and a lot of recognition.
The 24-year-old actor shared a video on Instagram where she broke down in tears on Tuesday after realizing that she received not one but two supporting actress nominations at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards.

Sydney Sweeney Breaks Into Tears
Sweeney received two nominations for the popular hit series Euphoria as well as the limited series The White Lotus in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie respectively at this year’s Emmy Awards.
The actor, who plays the character of Cassie Howard in ‘Euphoria,’ shared the emotional moment on Instagram where she tells her mother the big news.

She could be seen in the passenger seat of a car as she happily screamed “Mom” into the phone before quickly bursting into tears.
Sweeney captioned the video, “what a morning! thank you so much to the @televisionacad for my Emmy nominations! It’s an honor to know that both Olivia and Cassie have connected with so many.”
She further added, “I’m so proud of both these shows and grateful to everybody that’s been apart of them. But most importantly mom, I love you, we did it through the ups and downs!🥺♥️🥰 thank you thank you!!”
74th Primetime Emmy Awards Nominees
The nominations for the Primetime Emmy were announced on Tuesday. ‘Euphoria’ received 16 nominations in total while ‘The White Lotus’ received 20. Sweeney’s Euphoria co-star Zendaya also earned a nomination.
Zendaya has made history by being the youngest two-time acting nominee at the age of 25. She is also the youngest woman to be nominated for producing.
Another show that made history is Netflix’s Korean drama ‘Squid Games,’ with 14 nominations in many of the top categories. It became the first non-English show to be nominated for Outstanding Drama Series and was also nominated for Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and guest actress.
HBO’s ‘Succession’ is leading the game with 25 nominations while Apple TV+’s comedy ‘Ted Lasso’ earned 20 nods in different categories.
The awards will honor the best in American prime-time television programming from June 1, 2021, til May 31, 2022. The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on September 12, 2022.
