Anne Heche is not with us anymore. The veteran actress passed away on August 12 after battling for her life post a horrible car crash. She was declared brain bed and comatose after her car had rammed into a house, last week resulting in a massive fire. The news has left her fans and well-wishers heartbroken.
But remembering Anne only for her horrible car accident would be unjust for her talent. The Daytime Emmy Award winner had an illustrious career spanning more than three decades. 5. I Know What You Did Last Summer
Released during the post-‘Scream‘ wave of intelligent slasher films, ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ is a treat for horror fans. Despite having an ensemble, Anne Heche manages to make her mark in the role of Melissa ‘Missy’ Egan. She was the sister of the guy who was killed in an accident. Anne gives a strong emotional performance in a brief role. The film and her acting were praised. It went on to become a commercial success and was followed by two sequels.
4. Catfight
One of her most recent works, ‘Catfight’ is a black comedy that follows the literal cat fight between two former college friends when they both attend the same glamorous event. Beautifully complemented by Sandra Oh, Anna shines as Ashley Miller in the film with her comic timing and knack for physical comedy. The film is smart, funny, dark, on the face, and well made. It has been sadly overlooked. All we can hope is that people will now discover this underappreciated gem.
3. Wag The Dog
This 1997 political satire film also stars Robert De Niro and Dustin Hoffman in the lead. It follows the story of a spin doctor and a Hollywood financer who fabricate a war in Albania to distract people from a presidential sex scandal. Anne plays the role of Winifred Ames who is the presidential aide in this hilarious and thought-provoking film. The film was a critical and commercial success and is one of the best films of Anne’s career. Do give it a watch to observe her acting range.
2. Six Days, Seven Nights
Co-starring Harrison Ford, this 1998 action adventure comedy film failed to appeal to the critics. But Anne’s performance was lauded by Roger Ebert stating that she “had an easy appeal” and exhibited “unforced charm“. Despite the mixed reviews, ‘Six Days, Seven Nights‘ was a financial success, grossing around $164.8 million. It’s a fun popcorn flick one can watch on a weekend just to see Anne giving her best in presence of someone like Harrison Ford.

‘Donnie Brasco‘ is easily one of the most popular films of her career. This 1997 crime drama has Al Pacino and Johnny Depp in the lead as mobster and FBI agent respectively. Anne shines in her portrayal of Maggie the wife of an FBI agent left alone with her kids. The late actress gives an emotionally heavy performance as a lonely wife. ‘Donnie Brasco’ was a critical and commercial success and also received a Best Screenplay nomination at the Oscars.
