Though the first weekend of Coachella this year is as lit as ever with many dazzling stars gracing the event, it did not go so great for Grimes. The singer faced some issues during her 2024 Coachella set, and was forced to cut her performance short due to a “major technical error.”
On Day 2 of the festival’s first week, the Canadian artist had her performance lined up. But as she took over the stage, something went horribly wrong, consequently ruining her entire performance.
Midway through her performance, Grimes’ backing music started playing at double speed. The singer was visibly frustrated and tried to get it right with multiple attempts, as she restarted her song ‘Music 4 Machines‘ several times. As all her attempts went in vain, she addressed her audience, stating, “This is a difficult thing to explain but we’re having a major technical error. Don’t judge me for being bad at calculating things.”

Though the controversial singer seemingly tried her best to stop things from going south, there were further complications that finally led the 36-year-old to scream into her microphone. She ultimately apologized to the crowd and ended the set prematurely. Representatives for Grimes have not yet responded to inquiries about the incident.
Meanwhile, Coachella’s first weekend this year featured performances from reunited acts like ‘No Doubt’ with Olivia Rodrigo, along with headliners Lana Del Rey, Tyler, the Creator, and Doja Cat. As the festival’s second weekend approaches, fans hope Grimes will have the opportunity to redeem herself.
