In 2018, the singer made a nerdy pun joke on artificial intelligence. After seeing her joke on Twitter, Musk slid into her DMs to talk about the similar kind of humor they liked. On May 7, the same year, the two made their first public appearance together at MET Gala.
The joke which started it all was about Rococo and the thought experiment called Roko’s basilisk. She then went on to make a reference to it in her music video titled, ‘Flesh Without Blood‘.

Their Relationship Didn’t Work Out
On May 4, 2020, Grimes gave birth to their son who was named X Æ A-12. Since the name violated the name laws of California, the couple renamed him to X Æ A-Xii.
In September 2021, the billionaire said that they were “semi-separated.” “We are semi-separated but still love each other, see each other frequently and are on great terms,” Musk said.
In December of the same year, Musk and Grimes welcomed their daughter named Exa Dark Sideræl Musk, who was born through surrogacy. In March 2022, after a brief reconciliation, they parted ways again.
Speaking about her relationship with Musk, the singer once said: “I would probably refer to him as my boyfriend, but we’re very fluid.” Later on, she said that “he’s my best friend and the love of my life.”
