Halle Berry is the jack of all genres. The actor has performed in high-action films from ‘John Wick‘ to her recently released horror ‘Never Let Go’. However, it is not her freestyling nature that encourages her to work in different films.
Berry claims that early in the industry as a black woman, she did not have many opportunities to cherry-pick from. Therefore she dove into the options that presented themselves. She became a beacon to the black community when she won her Oscar for ‘Monster’s Ball‘ in 2002. However, the ‘Catwoman‘ actor claims that winning the Academy Award has not changed her “reality“.

Halle Berry recently sat down with The Hollywood Reporter for a promotional interview for her newly released film, ‘Never Let Go‘. The interviewer told Berry that Academy award winners like herself often stick to Oscar kind of movies for the rest of their careers. However, Berry has maintained her versatility in her films.
She replied to the interviewer, “Well, here’s the truth of it. As a Black woman, I have never had the luxury of just doing Oscar-worthy performances and movies. I don’t even know what that is. My options at times are so limited, and that’s the reality of it.”

Berry continued, “I won that Oscar 23 years ago now, and it was about working. It was about loving the craft. It was about growing and taking risks and chances. So I don’t have the luxury to just sit and field Oscar buzz movies. That wasn’t my reality, and it’s still not my reality.” However, the actor enjoys the diversity in her film portfolio and the adventures that come with it.
Previously, Berry voiced her disappointment that the Academy Awards committee has not conferred the Best Actress honor on another black woman since her win.
Halle Berry Will Act In ‘John Wick’ Spin-Off “In A Heartbeat”
Halle Berry has expressed before how much she enjoyed working on the sets of ‘John Wick: Parabellum‘. She created a close relationship with the dogs of her character Sofia – Dazir and Haven. Berry claimed that she has had dogs her entire life that easied her way with the John Wick canines.
She said, “I’ve had dogs my entire life. I’ve always had a pair of dogs, and I have two dogs now and two cats now.”

The interviewer asked about the possibility of Berry reprising her role in any future John Wick spin-offs. The actor immediately replied, “In a heartbeat. I loved that character, and I love Chad.”
Meanwhile, ‘Never Let Go‘ hit cinemas on September 20, where the plot follows a post-apocalyptic world where the characters have to stay linked to their homes by tying themselves to a rope.
