Don’t believe in celebrities’ flashing smiles and God-like looks especially movie stars. Turns out, the world’s most excellent movie star also happens to be the biggest tantrum thrower. Last year, Tom Cruise‘s first manager, Eileen Berlin, discussed the ‘Mission: Impossible’ star’s anger issues.
Eileen Berlin took care of Tom Cruise during the first early phase of his career. She openly talked about how the actor’s anger stemmed from being bullied by his father, Thomas Cruise Mapother III. Overcome by the need to be loved, the movie star was insecure about his looks and struggled with anger.
Tom Cruise’s Wild Reaction To Her Manager’s Gift
In 2022, Eileen Berlin took a trip down memory lane. In an article that originally appeared on the Insider, Berlin’s troubling memories and experiences of working with an 18-year-old Tom Cruise were mentioned in great depth. She recalled the young actor’s terrible relationship with his father, saying, “Tommy had a terrible temper. He harbored a lot of anger at his natural father. He was moody and would get angry in a snap of your fingers. It was like something was smoldering and it would boil up and explode. I put it down to his insecurity.”
Berlin handed him an album as a present on his 19th birthday, which was thrown to her face by the ungrateful actor. He yelled at her instead of thanking his manager for the birthday present. Eileen Berlin recollected, “I don’t want to be in the teen mags.’ He had told me he considered himself an adult, not a teen idol. He threw the album hard at me, and it hit me on the cheek.”

Tom Cruise’s Behaviour On The ‘Mission: Impossible’ Set
The history would repeat itself years later. While filming the seventh installment of ‘Mission: Impossible,’ Tom Cruise lost his cool. An audio of the 61-year-old actor belittling the crew for making a minor mistake leaked, once again exhibiting his controlling and intimidating behavior.
Another instance that comes to mind is Tom Cruise’s interview with Matt Lauer. The two clashed over the issue of psychiatry and medication, with the ‘Mission: Impossible’ actor calling out Brook Shields’ use of anti-depressants to deal with post-partum depression. The ‘Jerry Maguire’ actor later apologized to Brooke Shields in person, even inviting her to his wedding with Katie Holmes.
