“Her Reign Will Go Down In History Forever”: Twitter Mourns Queen Elizabeth II’s Death

Queen Elizabeth II has passed away, leaving the entire United Kingdom in mourning. She was 96 years old. Concerns over her health had put her under medical observation at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. Senior royals were seen flying down to the location to be by the Queen’s side.

In a statement, Buckingham Palace announced her death: “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and the Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.” People from all around the world are pouring in condolences on social media.

The Queen was born with the name Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor, in Mayfair, London, on April 21, 1926. She ruled the realm for 70 years. She had ascended the throne on February 6, 1952. Her Platinum Jubilee was celebrated across the entire nation in a triumphant manner. She made several appearances at the celebrations, but her deteriorating health kept her away from certain events.

Queen Elizabeth II had a long reign in Britain and was one of the most famous personalities on Earth. She died peacefully on the afternoon of September 8, according to Buckingham Palace’s official announcement.

Flags on landmark buildings in the United Kingdom have been lowered to mark the period of official mourning. In the wake of her death, her eldest son and Prince of Wales, Charles, will lead as the new monarch. He is now the new King and head of state for 14 Commonwealth realms.
