Pierce Brosnan Auditioned For Tim Burton’s Batman
Brosnan has portrayed some iconic characters on screen. One of them was James Bond in four films from 1995 to 2002. He could have added another feature to his cap if things were different.
The Irish actor recently appeared on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon‘ where he revealed that he auditioned for the titular role in Tim Burton’s 1989 film ‘Batman.’
“I went up for ‘Batman’ way back in the day when Tim Burton was doing it. Obviously, I didn’t get the job,” Brosnan told host Jimmy Fallon. “I remember saying something stupid to Tim Burton.”
He continued, “I said, ‘You know I can’t understand any man who would wear his underpants outside his trousers.’ But there you go… the best man got the job.” Michael Keaton went on to play the caped crusader; he also starred in the 1992 sequel, ‘Batman Returns.’
Brosnan Was Asked About The Next James Bond
Ever since Daniel Craig retired from the character, the search for the next James Bond has been going on. Brosnan, who is promoting ‘Black Adams‘ these days, was asked about it.
Brosnan was asked who should be the next James Bond since the departure of Daniel Craig. “Who should do it? I don’t care,” he said. He continued, “It’ll be interesting to see who they get, who the man shall be. Whoever he be, I wish him well.”
A reporter noted that he said it with “a tone that indicates it’s maybe not actually that interesting.” However, Brosnan has earlier praised Craig. “I have the greatest admiration for Daniel Craig and what he did. The physicality he brought to the performance was monumental.”
