The emerging trend of celebrity lookalike competitions is taking over the internet, and fans cannot be happier. After the hit lookalike contests of stars Timothée Chalamet, Harry Styles, and Paul Mescal among others, the Glen Powell lookalike contest was also a hot event.
Hundreds of Glen Powell fans gathered in the ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ star‘s hometown lookalike contest, which took place over the weekend at Auditorium Shores in Town Lake Park. While this was just another one of the many such contests, the prize the actor declared for its winner is rather exceptional. Here’s what Glen Powell offered to the winner of his lookalike contest.
Glen Powell Joins His Lookalike Contest In His Hometown Via Video Call
Contestants of the Glen Powell lookalike contest donned their finest attire as everyone from ‘Hit Man‘ to ‘Twisters‘ came out to play. There were some other more quirky entries that even included a take on Torchy’s Tacos red devil mascot and a dog modeling after his rescue dog Brisket.
While the actor himself could not attend the contest due to filming commitments in England for Edgar Wright’s remake of ‘The Running Man‘, Powell reminded everyone of his existence through a lighthearted FaceTime message.

“I am completely serious. This is a cash-value prize of $6 billion.” pic.twitter.com/MiwCgT6wvS
Starting off with a joke about the gathering being for Justin Hartley lookalikes, Powell said, “And we don’t need a mask because we all have the same face: It’s the perfect crime. They can’t get all of us because we are one — a criminal Glen-terprise. Also, I know it’s November, but if no one is shirtless for no reason, then this whole thing is a sham and, obviously, no one is committed to the bit.”
Contest Winner Max Braunstein Set To Appear In Glen Powell’s Next Film
In classic Glen Powell style, he upped the stakes for the contest, promising the winner a personal prize: a family member of their choice would get a cameo in his next movie. In the video, Powell said, “I know there is some cash and a hat at stake here, but I just wanted to say that the winner of today’s contest gets a personal prize from me.“
“Now, you may know that my parents make a cameo in every movie I make, but today, the winner of the Glen Powell lookalike contest wins their parents or any family member of their choice a cameo in my next movie. I am completely serious. This is a cash-value prize of $6 billion,” he added.

And the winner of the prize package, which includes a cowboy hat, free Torchy’s queso for a year, a cash prize, and, of course, a coveted movie cameo, was Max Braunstein. The Kate Carpenter-organized event gathered Powell’s family and fans in celebration of all things Powell — and, of course, that city’s famous “Keep Austin Weird” vibe.
This Austin contest is the latest in a viral trend that kicked off last month in New York City with a Timothée Chalamet lookalike competition, spreading now to cities and even internationally. From doppelgängers of Harry Styles to Paul Mescal, and even Shrek, this celebrity lookalike phenomenon is taking the world by storm, one uncanny twin at a time.
For now, Austin can bask in the glory of being Powell central—at least until the actor’s next film hits theaters.
