Many remember Dana Carvey for his hilarious, spot-on celebrity impressions. The ‘Saturday Night Live‘ star has made many laugh over the years, but he has recently been in the news for mocking Elon Musk after Donald Trump’s victory in the Presidential elections.
Musk also reacted to the act, slamming him. On Friday’s episode of ‘Superfly‘ podcast that Carvey co-hosted with fellow ‘Saturday Night Live‘ alum David Spade, he asserted that he is not quite impressed with his own performance of the tech mogul’s portrayal. Here’s all he said.
Dana Carvey Trashes His Own Elon Musk Impression
Dana Carvey was on the podcast with David Spade when he spoke about his recent performance on ‘SNL‘ where he portrayed Elon Musk. Telling Spade about it, Carvey said, “I can’t do Elon Musk very well.”
He admitted this was one of the challenges of getting an accent on Musk, stating that “he has an incredible accent… South Africa via Canada, via Pennsylvania. It’s almost like, it’s a little bit of Australian in there, a little bit of British, but he’s not totally that.”
While Carvey’s impression is not exactly Musk’s favorite, he continues to poke fun at the billionaire on SNL and his podcast.
Elon Musk Slammed Dana Carvey And ‘SNL’ For His Performance
Never one to mince words, Elon Musk had a couple of criticisms for Carvey’s impression and the ‘Saturday Night Live‘ sketch in general. Following the November 9 cold open with Carvey as Musk sporting a “dark MAGA” hat in celebration of Donald Trump’s hypothetical 2024 election win, Musk weighed in on social media.
“Dana Carvey just sounds like Dana Carvey,” Musk wrote on X, when asked what he thought of the impression. He didn’t stop there, taking a broader swing at the long-running sketch show, which he hosted in 2021.

“SNL has been dying slowly for years, as they become increasingly out of touch with reality,” Musk claimed. He added, “They are so mad that @realDonaldTrump won.”
Despite Musk’s criticism, Carvey will reprise his stint at ‘SNL‘ this December. He initially had donned the President Joe Biden regalia during a cold open that parodied Trump’s meeting with Biden. His other turn on the program is scheduled for December 7, when Paul Mescal hosts the show and Shaboozey guest stars as the musical performer.
